 In the reference 1st cited, Government have accorded permission to the Director of Secondary Health, Andhra Pradesh, for filling up 148 Civil Assistant Surgeon Specialist (CASS) vacancies and 90 Civil Assistant Surgeon General (CASGE) vacancies, totaling 238 vacancies, on contract basis through the District Selection Committee under the control of the Directorate of Secondary Health for a period of one year or until completion of regular recruitment or return of in-service PG doctors, whichever is earlier.

In the reference 2nd cited, the Director of Secondary Health, Andhra Pradesh, has informed that vacancies in the cadres of Civil Assistant Surgeon Specialists and Civil Assistant Surgeons (General) are adversely affecting the delivery of healthcare services in District Hospitals, Area Hospitals and Community Health Centres.
